What My Broken Toe Taught Me About Healing and Movement
Last week I broke my toe and while it wasn’t part of the plan, it turned out to be a powerful reminder of just how important mindful movement really is. As a massage therapist, I talk a lot about slowing down, listening to the body, and creating space for healing… but being forced to move slower myself brought that lesson home in a new way.
As someone who helps others feel better in their bodies every day, this small injury became a big reminder: healing is not just about rest, it’s about mindfulness, movement, and learning to work with your body, not against it.
Injury Brings Awareness
Since breaking my toe, every single step I take feels deliberate. I’ve had to slow down, take breaks, and use my energy wisely. It’s made me deeply aware of how much we rely on mobility until it’s suddenly compromised.
This pause reminded me of my clients.
